石川県輪島で200年以上、木と漆に携わってきた輪島キリモト。相次ぐ震災と豪雨を経てなお、この地でモノ創りを楽しみたい——その想いをいくつかのかたちでご紹介します。行き場を失った輪島塗の器を、修理ではなく今の暮らしに寄り添う「透き溜」「銀彩」「モノトーン」へ生まれ変わらせる〈輪島塗 Rescue & Reborn プロジェクト〉。御膳はシェルフ（棚）、ベース（台）という小型家具に展開。漆と鉄の家具も漆と和紙を活かした新表現を初披露。トヨタ自動車のカーボンニュートラル推進活動の一環であるTOYOTA UPCYCLEプロジェクト様との協働で、車のシート革端材を活かして、被災した地元のあすなろ材で縁取ったアートパネル。そして自らの感性を研ぎ澄まし、新しい表現に挑戦し続けている創り手が集う〈わじま工迎参道〉。普段の暮らしの中にホッと心あたたまる「しあわせのモノさがし」をぜひお楽しみください。

For more than 200 years, Wajima Kirimoto has worked with wood and urushi in Wajima, Ishikawa Prefecture.
Even after the successive earthquakes and torrential rains that have struck the region, we remain committed to the joy of creating here in Wajima.
This exhibition presents that spirit through a number of new initiatives and forms of expression.
The Wajima-nuri Rescue & Reborn Project gives new life to Wajima Urushi lacquerware that has lost its place or purpose—not simply by repairing it, but by transforming it into pieces suited to contemporary life through finishes such as Suki-dame translucent urushi, silver decoration, and monochrome designs.
Traditional serving trays are reimagined as small pieces of furniture, including shelves and display bases. We will also unveil new expressions in furniture, combining urushi with iron, as well as urushi and Japanese washi paper.
In collaboration with the TOYOTA UPCYCLE Project, part of Toyota Motor Corporation’s carbon-neutrality initiatives, discarded leather offcuts from automobile seats have been transformed into art panels framed with locally sourced asunaro wood affected by the disaster.
The exhibition also features Wajima Kogei Sando, bringing together makers who continue to refine their individual sensibilities while exploring new forms of creative expression.
